A new digital platform for remote eye examination – the Zeiss Visu360 – is providing access to eyecare in any area, at any time and any situation, the company has announced.
“The platform is live and enables dispensing staff to send images and data taken at a practice to an off-site optometrist that performs an eye examination remotely through a platform that connects with Zeiss instruments,” the company stated.
According to Zeiss, the Visu360 uses advanced telemedicine technology to provide excellent eye health checks and visual examinations regardless of the geographical distance.
“It saves valuable time when entering data, minimises resources, reduces room for error and increases workflow for fast efficiency.”
The consultation data are stored securely in an electronic health record and all prescriptions digitally signed by the optometrist.
“Remote examinations will be an integral part of eyecare, especially in rural areas or where there is a shortage of optometrists,” Zeiss said.
“Optimising the examination process makes it possible to treat and care for more patients. At the same time, these patients receive high-quality care, at all times. Direct contact is reduced, and a safe testing environment created.”
