The Artevo 800, as well as the Clarus 700 – a high-resolution, ultra-widefield imaging device with angiography – were both launched at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery’s annual meeting in San Diego this week.The Zeiss Artevo 800 is said to be the first digital microscope in ophthalmic surgery, and includes a new ‘DigitalOptics‘ feature, which provides “unmatched” depth of field, reduced light intensity requirents and real colour impression.According to the company, the platform provides digital assistance and detailed information to surgical vision in real-time. Mazzo added that specialists can manage all fundus imaging modalities in one session from one device without the need to reposition the patient, ensuring a comfortable exam experience.Finally, Zeiss announced its minimally invasive laser correction procedure, SMILE – which uses the VisuMax ftosecond laser – has been performed more than two million times in patients.More than 1000 VisuMax devices have been distributed, with SMILE being adopted by more than 1800 surgeons in more than 70 countries.
