ZEISS has announced the launch of ICG Angiography for its CLARUS 700 ultra-widefield Imaging system.
Offering a comprehensive suite of fundus imaging modalities, the CLARUS 700 from ZEISS enables users to improve workflow efficiency and support more accurate identification of disease. With ZEISS CLARUS, clinicians can capture high-resolution, true colour images from the macula to the far periphery using a single instrument.
Indocyanine green (ICG) angiography, a diagnostic imaging modality used in retino-choroidal disease assessment, supports detailed evaluation of the anatomy, physiology and pathology of choroidal and retinal circulation. It plays an important role in the diagnosis of ocular pathologies including wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV), central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR), choroidal tumours and more.
The introduction of ICG Angiography for the CLARUS 700 adds to the system’s existing imaging modalities, which include True Colour, Fundus Autofluorescence (FAF) Green and FAF Blue, Fluorescein Angiography, and near-infrared imaging.
According to ZEISS, the CLARUS 700 can capture widefield, early-phase high-resolution images, including simultaneous FA and ICG capture, as well as an optional movie mode to visualise flow and leakage. In the late phase, ultrawidefield images can be acquired while maintaining high-resolution (7-micron) clarity across the image area.
According to Dr Jenny Arnold of Marsden Eye Clinic in Sydney, “The CLARUS system has a number of advantages, one of which is the avoidance of many of the image artefacts, particularly lash artefacts which have really hampered evaluation of the peripheral retina with many other systems.”
ZEISS also notes that, alongside the optional ICGA upgrade, a software update will soon be available for existing CLARUS 500 and CLARUS 700 owners, including new features and cybersecurity updates.
New features in the updated software include ETDRS and Macula Grid overlays to support clinical studies and patient education, as well as a Quick Compare layout to assist clinicians in comparing changes between visits. With Precision Focus, users can adjust focus to specific regions of interest without losing the macula focal point.
