The contract has been awarded to Vision Australia by the New South Wales Department of Family and Community Services, effective 1 July.
Vision Australia (initially the former Royal Blind Society of NSW and now a national body) is a provider of blindness and low-vision services, and, according to a letter of 12 May sent to practitioners and signed by Ms Eleri Morgan-Thomas, executive director, of services syst delivery at D&CS, the spectacles program complents its current suite of services.
Also, according to Ms Morgan-Thomas, there are strong synergies between the /program and Vision Australia’s aim to reduce preventable blindness and low vision through early identification and intervention.
