Vision Eye Institute (VEI) has taken feedback from more than 800 optometrists and GPs into consideration in finalising its 2023 CPD calendar.
Ms Sasha Kairouz, clinical relationships and education manager at VEI, said the organisation is dedicated to achieving optimal patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes by providing high-quality service and best-practice care.
It recently conducted a national survey of 826 optometrists and GPs to re-evaluate and refine the way in which it collaborates with its healthcare partners.
“The survey insights will help us shape our continuous improvement strategy and plan our educational initiatives and patient and referrer resources for next year. We’re grateful to everyone who generously shared their opinion and will incorporate the feedback into our future CPD activities,” she said.
VEI’s CPD calendar forms part of its commitment to fostering clinical and scientific excellence in partnership with optometrists and other healthcare professionals.
“We’re currently planning our 2023 calendar, and we’re delighted to be able to offer options that align with our healthcare partners’ areas of interest and preferred formats. Although online learning is still popular, our survey respondents clearly want more face-to-face, interactive CPD opportunities, which we will provide,” Kairouz said.
However, content will still cater to those who prefer online learning, she said.
“Both our CPD webinars and Shared Vision podcast, which were quality assured by Optometry Australia’s Institute of Excellence in 2022, will return next year. This year’s Shared Vision national webinar series was well-attended, attracting over 2,200 registrants,” Kairouz said.
“Our podcasts focus on co-management and feature Vision Eye Institute’s ophthalmologists sharing their expertise on various topics. Listeners are finding that this ‘CPD-on-the-go’ is a convenient form of education they can easily fit into their busy lives.”
Kairouz said Season 2 of the Shared Vision podcast will be released in 2023.
“Wherever possible, we will apply for quality assurance from Optometry Australia, to ensure our CPD content is high-quality and relevant to optometrists.”
Kairouz said Vision Eye Institute prides itself on providing high-quality CPD activities to optometrists, especially through its free Shared Vision educational network.
“By registering, optometrists and GPs can receive early bird invitations to CPD events and access a range of CPD activities,” she said.
A breakdown of the survey results, including ‘pain points’ experienced by respondents and their predictions for the future of optometry, will be made available to Shared Vision members shortly.
Optometrists and GPs who have not had the chance to provide feedback about Vision Eye Institute’s services or CPD initiatives are invited to do so through the Shared Vision platform.
