Vision Eye Institute Boronia is next week hosting a free CPD event on geographic atrophy (GA), a condition which affects around 20% of individuals with age-related macular degeneration.
Vitreoretinal surgeon Dr Devinder Chauhan and general ophthalmologist Dr Alex Tan will present at the event taking place on 30 May at Rock Art Events in Collingwood, Melbourne.
“Although there is currently no treatment available for the condition, there are therapies in the pipeline, so it’s important for optometrists to establish diagnostic and referral patterns in preparation for their release,” Vision Eye Institute said.
“This is optometrists’ chance to refine their understanding of GA pathology, diagnosis, referral and treatment. They will also hone their skills in patient and caregiver support and counselling.”
The event has been quality assured by Optometry Australia’s Institute of Excellence for 1.75T CPD hours.
Registration is required, as places are limited.
“We are pleased to offer complimentary registration to this event and thank our sponsor, Apellis, for their support,” Vision Eye Institute said.
