Now in its 11th year, the Specsavers Clinical Conference (SCC) is returning on 10-11 September as a virtual two-day ophthalmology-led event with live CPD content from industry-leading speakers.
In addition to the virtual conference, there will be in-person networking events hosted in each region across Australia on the evening of the 10 September for optometrists wanting to socialise and connect with their peers.
Specsavers director of optometry Dr Ben Ashby said SCC 2022 will offer a range of extra on-demand content for attendees to access when and where they want, offering a total of 20 hours of CPD.
“Optometrists will get the best of both worlds, being able to attend the Saturday and Sunday virtual conference from the comfort of their home and have the option to attend an in-person networking evening in their region, ensuring everyone can reconnect with the industry and enjoy the opportunity to connect with their peers,” he said.
“At Specsavers, we are committed to delivering world-class professional development opportunities to all optometrists. For this year’s SCC, we have invested in the best technology available that guarantees to be the closest thing to an in-person event and promises to be interactive and engaging.”
This years’ conference will include industry leaders presenting on myopia control, anterior eye therapeutics, ocular lesions, paediatrics, glaucoma, diabetes, age related macular degeneration, neuro-ophthalmology and vitreoretinal.
Speakers presenting during the two-day conference include:
- Associate Professor Lyndell Lim, Centre for Eye Research Australia
- Associate Professor Celia Chen, Vision SA, Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders University
- Dr Joel Yap, Auckland Eye
- Dr Rod O’Day, Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Centre for Eye Research Australia
- Professor Robyn Guymer, Centre for Eye Research Australia
- Dr Loren Rose, Macquarie University
SCC is open to all optometrists, students and industry professionals across Australia and New Zealand.
An early bird rate of $149 is only available until early July. A full price of $199 applies from 15 July onwards.
