Macular Disease Foundation Australia (MDFA) has kicked off the latest round in its Research Grants Program, with grants of up to $200,000 available.
The MDFA scheme is the largest non-government source of research grant funding for macular disease in Australia.
The latest round opened on 1 October and closes on 3 November.
There are two funding streams available:
- Macular Disease Foundation Australia’s Research Grants of up to $200,000 per project for 1–3 years duration.
- The Grant Family Fund awards up to $50,000 per project to support early-career researchers for innovative “blue sky” research for projects up to one year.
“For more than 10 years we have been investing in high-impact research that aims to find new ways to detect macular disease and uncover better treatments,” said Dr Kathy Chapman, CEO of the foundation.
“We have worked with many leading researchers, as well as mid and early-career researchers, whose outstanding work has increased our knowledge and contributed to new innovations both in Australia and internationally.”
MDFA’s research grants selection process is overseen by its Research Grant Review Panel, after going through rigorous scientific peer review and Community Review Panel assessment.
