Derek Dyson, Charles Hornor, Gary Sargeant, Henriette Mancini, Paul Bott, Darrel Magna, Stewart Roussel, Danny Ginsberg, Steve O’Leary and Karen Woods were all in attendance at the breakfast to receive the awards on behalf of all Specsavers joint-venture partners and team mbers.
Specsavers’ general manager Australasia and global retail director, Derek Dyson, accepted the Australian Retailer of the Year award on the team’s behalf.
“It is a great honour and we are very proud of our achievent. It is incredible to think that it is only five years since we opened our first store in Australia. Since then we have opened almost 300 stores, ploy more than 3,000 people in Australia in our stores and support office, introduced a manufacturing base into Australia, enabled more than 500 Australians to go into business for thselves as store partners and are now market leaders for both eye examinations and prescription eyewear,” Mr Dyson said.
“In addition to our overall business success, Specsavers has and continues to make our people a priority. With our ‘People Agenda’ the key to our annual plan each and every year, Specsavers continues to go over and above to offer great benefits, opportunities, career paths, training and development and a great environment to work within and today that was recognised.”
Human resources director, Henriette Mancini, was accepted the 2013 Retail ployer of the Year Award on behalf of Specsavers, saying: “Ensuring the ‘People Agenda’ is at the forefront of all we do as a business and is strategically aligned to our short-term and long-term business plans; we will ensure the continued success and growth of Specsavers in the retail industry through our people.
“When we receive engagent and enablent scores that are above global high performing norms through our team mbers feedback, there is no better reward for the HR and managent team, and this industry award again reinforces that Specsavers is a great place to work”.
Both awards were won against some of Australia’s biggest retailers including Myer, Priceline Pharmacies, Jeans West and Pandora.
