Registration is now open for the 54th RANZCO Congress, taking place at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 20-23 October.
Organisers have condensed the program into four packed days of science, bookended by the Global Eye Health Workshop on Friday 20 October, and the ANZEF Cape to Cape trek from Tuesday 24 to Friday 27 October.
“Spaces are still available for the walk. We highly recommend this as a way to stretch your legs and clear your mind after three days of lectures and meetings,” organisers said.
This year, the Global Eye Health Workshop tackles glaucoma and uveitis diagnosis management and treatment in a low resource environment.
RANZCO 2023 Congress convenors Dr Antony Clark and Dr Hannah Clark said the congress will feature speakers from around Australia, Singapore, the US and UK talking on a range of topics, including refractive, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, retina and cataract.
“Courses, papers, posters, films and novel presentations will complete the robust scientific program. There will also be a range of lectures on topics on complementary topics, such as business skills and education,” they said.
“As well as shaking up the congress program, we’re bringing you a more contemporary social events program. Congress will open with a Welcome Reception to remember. Immortalise your Welcome Reception memories with a photo booth and relax to some music while you enjoy canapes, cocktails and drinks at The Island on Elizabeth Quay.”
The Graduation and Awards Ceremony will be followed by the President’s Reception on Saturday evening.
Organisers have also placed a strong focus on sustainability.
“When you register, you’ll have the option to offset your congress carbon footprint. We’ll be showcasing the best of locally-sourced fare on Sustainable Sunday with an exciting set of meal options across morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Further details on these and other exciting sustainability initiatives will be shared as congress nears.”
