Babak Asgari – Eyetelligence
Australian-based ophthalmic artificial intelligence (AI) company Eyetelligence has appointed Mr Babak Asgari as its new director of business development for Asia-Pacific. Bringing more than 15 years of medical device experience and a global commercial leadership background, the company expects Asgari to be an invaluable asset. The appointment is part of a broader commitment to expand beyond domestic borders.
Michael Yapp – Optometry Australia
One of Australia’s leading optometrists Michael Yapp has joined Optometry Australia in a newly created role, focussed on advancing the profession, scaling up collaborative care and supporting optometrists to practise to full scope. Yapp commenced in his new role in early August 2023, while also continuing in his current role as the Head of Clinical Operations and Teaching at the Centre for Eye Health (CFEH). He joined CFEH at its inception in 2009.
David Holland – Rayner Australia
A new company Holland Ophthalmic Consulting has emerged and, led by David Holland, has recently started consulting with Rayner Australia. Having experience in the Ophthalmic industry for 20 years across Australia, New Zealand and Asia, he will be instrumental in Rayner’s growth of RayOne EMV in the market by bringing industry knowledge, passion and clinical expertise in optics and the operating room. Additionally, he will be consulting for Eyerising International a MedTech company developing a device to help slow the progression of myopia.
Dr Fabrizio D’Esposito – Vision 2020 Australia
Dr Fabrizio D’Esposito has joined the Vision 2020 Australia leadership team in the role of Policy and Advocacy Manager. He has 15 years’ experience in the public health sector, including a decade in the eye health sector with experience in the strategic development, promotion, and advocacy of policy positions relating to eye health. His career encompasses roles working with governments, non-government organisations, World Health Organization, academia, and the private sector.
