Welcome to People on the move –  August 2022, Insight’s monthly bulletin to keep the Australian ophthalmic sector updated on new appointments and personnel changes.

Gladys Mak – ODA Advisory Board

IMG_6497 copy_edited_edited.png (538×516)Gladys Mak, a technical officer at UWA Optometry, has joined Optical Dispensers Australia (ODA) Advisory Board. Mak is an experienced optical dispenser with diverse industry background both in Australia and internationally. She is one of the instructors delivering the optical dispensing workshop for Doctor of Optometry at University of Western Australia. She has extensive experience in frame manufacturing and product development. Mak has a keen interest in giving back to the optical dispensing community and supporting dispensers to reach their highest potential.

Linden Sawyers – ODA Advisory Board

WA_Linden_Sawyers_3555-220720-1129_edited.png (538×516)Linden Sawyers, a retail partner at Specsavers Baldivis in WA, has joined Optical Dispensers Australia (ODA) Advisory Board. Sawyers has worked in the eye health industry for almost 20 years across both independent and corporate practices, experiencing first-hand the advancement of the optical dispensing profession and the individuals within it. With a completed Cert IV in Optical Dispensing and an FBDO accreditation underway, Sawyers is especially passionate about the educational opportunities available for Dispensers. She is also as a member of the Specsavers ANZ Dispensing Advancement Partner Advisory Group.

Kiyoko Robertson – Bausch + Lomb

Kiyoko Robertson has joined Bausch + Lomb as Surgical Territory Manager and will support the New South Wales territory focused on the Newcastle area. Robertson is a trained nurse in both the human and veterinary fields where she spent 25 years of her career. Originally from the US, she has been in Australia for a total of 12 years and spent the last four years as a Territory Manager in Orthopaedic Trauma. Now settled in Newcastle, Robertson is excited to start this new phase of her career in surgical ophthalmology.

Bianca Dowman – Bausch + Lomb

Bianca Dowman has joined Bausch + Lomb as a Surgical Territory Manager focused on supporting New South Wales. She has had success within the medical device industry and brings over 20 years of experience across several surgical specialties. Dowman’s nursing background and extensive experience with medical devices, along with her Master’s in Business Administration, have her well-positioned to welcome this new challenge in surgical ophthalmology.
