Optos PLC, a pioneer in retinal imaging technology, has achieved a global milestone of installing 30,000 devices worldwide.
CEO Alexandre Montague said that for more than 30 years, Optos had played a critical role in progressing retinal imaging and supporting improved patient care worldwide. It remained focused on empowering eye care professionals, improving access to advanced imaging, and helping shape a future where patient outcomes were ultimately improved globally, he said.
“When clinicians can see more of the retina, they are better equipped to detect and monitor systemic and ocular disease,” Montague said in a media release on 25 June 2026.
As part of the milestone, Optos recognised optometry business Radiance Eye Care, a member of the Vision Source network of private practice optometrists in the US for its “meaningful impact on comprehensive eyecare”.
“By incorporating optomap UWF (Ultra-Widefield retinal imaging technology) imaging into routine exams, the practice has strengthened its ability to support better patient outcomes,” Montague said.
“Practices like Radiance Eye Care demonstrate what’s possible when innovation is paired with a deep commitment to patient outcomes. It’s not just about improving vision – it’s about protecting health, saving sight, and in many cases, saving lives.”
Optos said its market leading single-capture, 200-degree ultra-widefield (UWF™) retinal imaging technology had enabled clinicians to visualise and document the retina in ever-evolving ways to elevate patient care.
Dr Patel said that as a Vision Source member, her clinic was focused on delivering the highest standard of care through innovation and collaboration.
