The Optometry Board of Australia is seeking a practitioner member from New South Wales to join the board.
The board said the National Scheme played an important role in ensuring the development of a culturally safe and respectful health workforce that is responsive to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ health and contributed to the elimination of racism in the provision of health services.
It said that to achieve this it had committed to increasing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leadership and voices on National Boards and invited Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to apply for the board position.
“Applications are encouraged from people in rural and remote areas, people with a disability, people who identify as LGBTIQA+ and people from culturally diverse backgrounds,” it said.
