Optometry 2040 to map long-term future of the sector

These concerns have arisen due to on-going turbulence resulting from technological, economic, political and dographic change which has caused significant disruption to tried and true practice models, working conditions, patient care, training requirents and communications,” Brodie said.“Change will continue at increasingly rapid rates and rather than hope it may settle, we must brace and channel the opportunities it brings for the successful sustainability of our sector.“Optometry 2040 will use proven techniques to enable the optometry sector to identify potential futures for optometry and what is needed to ensure preferred futures become a reality. This is about collaborating to create and have better control over the future of the profession,” she added.Mbers, along with a wide cross section of optometry sector influencers, will be invited to participate in Optometry 2040 via a series of workshops that OA will conduct between March and Septber. The workshop series will begin with a live webinar on March 6, with subsequent events likely to be a variety of face-to-face meetings with invitations extended to mbers, optometric suppliers, key health care stakeholders, government, acadics and students.Additionally, a workshop will be held at SILMO Sydney 2018, in conjunction with the event’s ‘Practice of the Future’ exhibit.A more detailed report about Optometry 2040 and OA’s collaboration with SILMO Sydney can be found in the February issue of Insight.Image courtesy: freepik | Creativeart
