It has erged that the OBA (and other such boards under the overall administration of the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority) can do almost anything they like, with little need to account to anyone, including AHPRA.It has further erged that of the six universities in Australia and New Zealand that conduct training courses for optometrists, two made submissions for publication on the OBA’s proposal to widen the glaucoma role for optometrists – Deakin University and The University of Auckland (in reality not affected by the change as it is in New Zealand); two made submissions but requested anonymity; and two did not even bother to make submissions (the latter four have not been identified).
