Optical Distributors and Manufacturer’s Association (ODMA) upcoming O-SHOW24 will feature equipment demonstrations, workshops and free educational sessions led by an expert speaker line-up.
The event, set to run on 17-18 May at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney’s Moore Park, will include displays from 70 Exhibitors showcasing the latest advancements in technology and fashion.
Attendees can participate in live equipment demonstrations every half-an-hour by industry names such as BOC Instruments, Designs for Vision, Device Technologies, Medmont, Opticare, OptiMed, and Zeiss.

Activities such as Optical Dispenser Australia’s (ODA) ‘Make Your Own Eyewear’ workshop will provide attendees with an opportunity to “experience the artistry of eyewear creation firsthand and learn traditional artisan techniques fused with cutting-edge technology as they craft their very own pair of spectacles”.
Here, participants will select an acetate from a spectrum of colours, a shape from an array of templates, then handcraft, sand, drill, and assemble their frames.

Free educational sessions
Additionally, free practice management and dispensing educational sessions will cover topics such as buying and selling practices in independent optometry.
Experts such as Mr Philip Rose from Eyecare Plus and Mr Mark Corduff from ProVision will provide insights into the criteria for purchasing the right practice and offer support throughout the process.
In her session, Ms Fatin Tobia from eye2eye Marketing 360 will explore optimising patient recalls in optometry, focusing on identifying successful recall methods to enhance practice efficiency and patient care.
Mr Steve Daras will share his knowledge on the modern optical dispenser and the intersect between being a retailer and an optical professional.
In his session, Mr Ulli Hentschel from HOYA will focus on early intervention of myopia management solutions to address the rising prevalence of myopia. He will also examine the role of outdoor activities and sunlight intensity in mitigating myopia progression.
Furthermore, optometrist and academic Dr Emma Gillies will present a masterclass on skills in trust-based selling.
Admission to these sessions is free, but spots are limited.
