Cylite has confirmed the first public showing of its Australian-made HP-OCT with Focus software will take place at O-Show in May.
The system uses patented Hyperparallel OCT technology to simultaneously scan 1,008 individual beamlets across the eye to produce a scanning speed of greater than 300,000 scans per second.
The Melbourne-based company said this enables it to minimise the effect of eye motion artefacts and build highly accurate three-dimensional volumetric scans of the anterior and posterior segments.
The award-winning HP-OCT is scheduled to be launched in the latter half of 2022 and O-Show is the first time the Australian optometry eyecare community will be able to see it in a public forum.
It will be displayed on booth #84 along with its new software platform, called Focus, which is designed to both drive the HP-OCT, as well as manage the patient database.
“Visitors to the Cylite booth will for the first time have the opportunity to take part in a demonstration of the HP-OCT and to experience the capabilities of the device,” senior product manager Mr Matthew Wensor said.
“In addition to commonly used OCT applications, the three-dimensional volume scans are designed to produce micron-resolution topographical maps of ocular structures, including the cornea, which notably are not influenced by the quality of the tear film due to the OCT capture method. This capability promises to be a great advantage for contact lens fitting, including ortho-K and scleral contact lenses,” he said.
In the same scan, biometric parameters for the purposes of myopia management are also generated, including axial length, keratometry, central corneal thickness, anterior chamber depth, lens thickness, white-to-white and pupil diameter.
“We are really looking forward to showing off our new technology and giving the Australian eyecare community its first glimpse of what’s to come,” Wensor said.
