Two new extra dark photochromic technologies are now available in the Essilor and OSA lens range for spectacle wearers who struggle with light sensitivity.
Transitions XTRActive New Generation and Transitions XTRActive Polarized have been recently launched and come in response to Transitions Optical research showing that nine out of 10 spec wearers declare they are ‘light sensitive’, with three out of 10 stating they are ‘very light sensitive’.1
Research from Transitions Optical showed that very light sensitive wearers experience painful symptoms 2.2 times more often than others. At times even low light intensity from everyday environments – such as artificial lighting in the office or supermarket – can bother them.
Their difficulties intensify as the light level increases and they can experience symptoms like itchy eyes, headaches and eyestrain2.
Transitions XTRActive New Generation and Transitions XTRActive Polarized have been developed for these very light sensitive wearers.
The Transitions XTRActive range, is clear to extra dark and clear to polarised, delivering extra light protection for wearers wanting darker lenses and who are frequently exposed to bright or reflected light, and who are very light sensitive.
Both lenses are clear indoors and extra dark outdoors – even in hot temperatures. They also darken in the car, filter blue light and block 100% UVA and UVB. Based on the latest Transitions technology they now are even faster to fade back, Essilor stated.
Transitions XTRActive New Generation, in standard tests conducted by Transitions Optical was the only photochromic lens to reach category 3 darkness in hot temperatures and category 2 darkness in the car. Available in grey, brown and graphite green colours.
Transitions XTRActive Polarized is the only clear to dark dynamic polarised photochromic lens with up to 90% effective polarisation. Available in grey only.
