Cylite, the Melbourne manufacturer of the “ground-breaking” Hyperparallel OCT (HP-OCT), has teamed up with EyeSpace on the integration of software that allows the design of contact lenses from scans taken by the equipment.
The company says the EyeSpace software represents the first such link to a contact lens manufacturer and allows users to directly launch it from a chosen anterior OCT scan and generate corneal lens designs from its precise height maps.
The EyeSpace integration enables Cylite users to load links to approved third-party software, which can be launched via the Cylite Focus Review software.
“We are very pleased to integrate with the EyeSpace software to enable our customers to access seamless contact lens design and ordering using our unique technology,” the company said in a statement.
Cylite generates its precise 3D images by projecting 1,008 simultaneous parallel beams of light, which scan the eye at a rate of over 300,000 scans per second, thus overcoming eye motion and tear film artefacts that can affect some other technologies.
Cylite uses these 3D true-volume images to generate a full suite of anterior and posterior corneal topography maps, from which the EyeSpace software link draws its data.
The company pointed out that clinicians could use the same scan to not only send precise height information to the EyeSpace software, but also to separately track myopia progression via its state-of-the-art axial length measurement, making the HP-OCT an “excellent and rounded tool for myopia management”.
The people behind EyeSpace also commented on the integration of their software with the Cylite HP-OCT.
“EyeSpace is committed to building topography-based computerised lens design, simulation, technical support and quality manufacturing software for custom-made contact lenses, which started in 2010 with the integration of EyeSpace with Melbourne-based placido instrument, Medmont E300,” they stated.
“Wind forward to 2024, the integration of EyeSpace with Melbourne based Cylite’s volumetric HP-OCT represents a significant leap forward in technology. Cylite’s HP-OCT offers the contact lens fitter with larger measurement of the topography of the ocular surface, highly precise elevation data, measurement of the entire anterior segment and all the layers of the cornea, their shape and thickness, as well as the posterior eye and axial length.
“EyeSpace is excited to work with owners of Cylite’s HP-OCT to deliver better outcomes and improve the quality of life of their patients.”
