It was announced during a meeting of the ACO council on 15 June that Prof Pesudovs would succeed Prof Nathan Efron in the position.Prof Pesudovs is the foundation professor of optometry and vision science at Flinders University in Adelaide and has served on the ACO’s council for six years.His past governance experience includes roles as a councillor of the South Australia Division of the Optometrists Association of Australia from 1992 to 1996 and as vice-president in 1993.He was on the committee of the SA chapter of the Contact Lens Society of Australia from 1993 to 2000 and president from 1994 to 1996.Prof Pesudovs is also a mber of the editorial boards of eight professional journals, including Optometry and Vision Science.Prof Alex Gentle has been appointed ACO vice-president and chair of the National Vision Research Institute’s board of administration.Mr Mark O’Sullivan is honorary treasurer and Mr Mitchell Anjou joins the executive committee and the finance and risk committee as the additional council representative. Ms Sarah Byrne has been appointed chair of the human research ethics committee.
