Global eyewear group Marcolin is focusing on “timeless pieces with a modern twist” in a September 2024 eyewear collection with ic! berlin.
The collection features the latest designs from the German brand, which has created ultra-light metal frames with a patented screwless hinge for a sophisticated, yet unconventional look.
Marcolin finalised its acquisition of ic! berlin GmbH in 2023, taking over almost 150 employees and a major production site.
Ic! berlin was established in the German capital in 1996 and carries out in-house design, prototyping, manufacturing and assembling of its luxury sunglasses and optical frames.
Of the new Ic! berlin September collection, Marcolin said it was a fresh approach to the brand’s signature material: metal.
“This year, our beloved sheet metal comes in new shapes, with fresh material combinations, bent, lacquered, and minimalist cuts.”
It said ic! berlin frames guaranteed weightless comfort thanks to their “durable construction and the iconic use of cold-rolled stainless steel from Germany”.
“This dedication to ultimate comfort and quality extends to the use of other refined materials such as beta titanium from Japan, cotton-based acetate from Italy, as well as the company’s latest innovation, Flexarbon.”
The collection includes frames designed for male, female and unisex wearers.
It includes Remy, for men, where the company “created a smart look that feels unusually light and friendly”, said the statement.
“Its classic square shape is softened by the frame’s unique step-cut design – making it easy to wear for many face shapes.”
For women, the many designs include Kara, part of the Sonja M family of glasses.
It is “Remy’s female companion and features the same innovative step-cut design”.
“The varying thickness of the frame is particularly interesting for a cat eye shape, resulting in a playful, yet sharp look,” Marcolin stated.
The unisex frames include Thulium, which is a “beautiful round frame with a modern twist of the classic keyhole design”.
“We combined a metal frame with a meticulously crafted metal ring, thus creating a finer and cleaner keyhole look.
“Thulium is part of our metal hybrid family Pure Elements.”
