According to a clinical study led by the Independent Centre for Ocular Research and Education, CooperVision’s OptiExpert app can help successfully fit 100% of presbyopic patients wearing the company’s Clariti One Day Multifocal lens using two pairs of trial lenses or fewer.OptiExpert is a free, multifunctional app that includes multifocal and toric calculators, a digital version of the Efron Grading Scales and oxygen profiles displaying the oxygen transmissibility relevant to a selected contact lens design and prescription. Optometrists can also use the app to securely store images of a patient’s eye condition and be given recommendations from CooperVision’s portfolio. The clinical study – first published at the recent American Acady of Optometry Annual Meeting – compared the app’s ability to fit the Clariti lens alongside the recommendations of practitioners following the product’s fitting guide.According to CooperVision, the study confirmed the ability of OptiExpert to deliver timely, accurate results with presbyopic patients, ultimately reducing chair time.“We’re delighted that the study findings reinforce the accuracy of our innovative OptiExpertTM app. It adds another dimension to how we partner with practitioners to save valuable chair time and create a better wearer experience,” CooperVision’s vice president of global professional and clinical affairs Dr Gary Orsborn said.Available in 15 languages and 79 countries, CooperVision claims more than 25,000 eyecare professionals actively use OptiExpert. Optometrists can download the app from the Apple App Store, Google Play and Baidu. More reading:Record revenue for CoopervisionCooperVision opens new contact lens facility WATCH VIDEO
