Melbourne is set to host the Art of Ocular Imaging Conference (AOI) for the first time.
The event, to be held at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital Education Precinct on 28 February, 2026, will include high-calibre presentations and interactive small group masterclasses.
Organisers said the aim was to “upskill, enhance and complement clinical practical knowledge for eyecare health professionals interested in ocular imaging”.
The CPD program would provide attendees with some of the latest imaging modalities used in assessing structures anywhere from the front to the back of the eye, they said.
The AOI program was attracting CPD point allocation from the Australian Orthoptic Board and the masterclasses were in the process of being quality assured by Optometry Australia.
AOI is the brainchild of senior orthoptist Ms Mara Giribaldi, assisted by her colleague Dr Christopher Hodge, who had a vision to hold a conference which highlights the importance of accuracy and competency in imaging.
While also developing a clinician’s understanding of the subtleties of disease diagnoses through the application of imaging, case-based examples would be used to further explain the application of varied imaging modalities.
The conference will comprise of a series of hands-on practical masterclasses around two sessions of cutting-edge presentations on ‘Imaging in Disease’ and ‘Imaging in Practice’.
The conference will finish with the Art of Ocular Imaging Prize for the best submitted image.
Registration closes on 20 February 2026 and those keen to find out more can go to https://tix.yt/6YY.
