Head of school, Professor Fiona Stapleton, welcomed guests; Visiting Professor Charles McMonnies, chairman of the visiting committee to the school, praised the school for its development over the decades, culminating in the recent major refurbishment; the dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Merlin Crossley, said he hoped numbers of graduates from the school would increase, particularly with the inclusion of therapeutic drugs in the undergraduate course; and Carina Trinh, president of Student Optometry Society 2011, thanked the school and staff for their efforts in assisting students.
