In its report, the company announced that its board of directors had appointed consultant Mr Francesco Milleri to the board, filling a spot previously held by co-CEO Adil Khan, who recently left the company. Mr Milleri will be tasked with assisting Mr Leonardo Del Vecchio “in carrying out the various functions associated with his current role.”
In a separate statent, on 2 March, in Milan, Mr Del Vecchio clarified: “Mr. Milleri is not a new chief executive officer, but will act under my coordination and under my responsibility as executive chairman.”
For the 2015 fiscal year, Luxottica Group reported record adjusted sales exceeding ???9 billion, representing growth of 17% (+5.5% at constant exchange rates) compared to the prior fiscal year. Luxottica’s wholesale division’s net sales for the 12 months ending 31 Decber rose 12.5% to ???3.6 billion (a 6.9% gain at constant exchange rates).
The company’s retail division’s adjusted net sales were ???5.4 billion for the year, a 20.3% increase (up 4.5% at constant exchange rates). Sunglass Hut reported total sales climbed by 24.6% in 2015, (up 10% at constant exchange rates), while LensCrafters in North America reflected comparable store sales were up by 4.3% for the year. The Group also said it saw “stellar increases in e-commerce revenues,” which were up by 50% in the year.
