Lumibird Medical has launched its next generation YAG/SLT laser, the Tango Reflex Neo, by Ellex.

A fully integrated Q-switched Nd:YAG and frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser for anterior segment YAG and glaucoma indications, Tango Reflex Neo features second-generation Reflex technology with True Coaxial Illumination (TCI), designed to enhance visualisation of anterior and posterior segments.

New features introduced with the fully integrated laser include Imprint, a dynamic heads-up display with real-time view of treatment settings within the binoculars, and joystick control of energy settings. It also features up to 2 mm YAG posterior offset, facilitating PROcap – Premium Refractive Outcome Capsulotomies.

Mr Matthew Metcalfe, anterior segment laser product manager at Lumibird Medical said: “PROcap is an alternative approach to Nd:YAG posterior capsulotomy, developed to improve the geometry of capsule openings, maximise IOL protection and significantly reduce post-operative iatrogenic floaters.”

The device features second-generation Reflex technology with True Coaxial Illumination.

CEO Lumibird Medical Mr Jean-Marc Gendre said Tango Reflex Neo builds on decades of experience within the company’s design and manufacturing teams, delivering “an exceptionally high-quality product” that he believes will be instrumental in advancing the standard of care in clinical practice.

The Tango Reflex Neo is Lumibird Medical’s latest premium anterior segment laser, with CE mark and USA FDA 510K approval.

Founded in Adelaide in 1985, Ellex-branded ophthalmic laser and ultrasound systems are used in more than 100 countries.

Ellex lasers and ultrasound systems were acquired by Lumibird Group in July 2020. The group manufactures and markets innovative solutions for the diagnosis and treatment of four main causes of blindness – cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, as well as and dry eye.

Lumibird Medical is the medical holding of the Lumibird Group, a global leader in solid-state lasers for scientific and industrial use. It comprises Ellex (Australia and Japan), Quantel Medical (France and Polska) and Optotek Medical in Slovenia and three subsidiaries in the US, India and Nordics (Sweden, Finland and Norway).

Imprint is a dynamic heads-up display with real-time view of treatment settings within the binoculars.
