Bausch + Lomb is set to introduce its next generation enVista intraocular lens (IOL) to Australian ophthalmologists this month, in a webinar featuring three surgeons who have been early adopters of the company’s enhanced lens material and delivery technology.
US cataract surgeons Dr Mitch Shultz and Dr Dee Stephenson will join Queensland’s Dr Sunil Warrier for the free event on Tuesday 23 March from 6.30-7.30pm AEDT (3.30-4.30pm AWST and 8.30-9.30pm NZDT).
After 11 Australian surgeons completed a pre-launch evaluation at the end of last year, the new enVista preloaded IOL is expected to be widely available to Australian ophthalmologists from April.
The enVista family of lenses, which include monofocal and toric IOLs, have a unique set of features that B+L says help to compensate for the eye’s natural imperfections.
Shultz, Stephenson and Warrier will present and discuss how the new enVista preloaded IOL – which incorporates an improved lens material and the company’s new SimplifEYE preloaded delivery system – contributes to procedural efficiencies by providing predictable and stable performance.
The enhanced enVista monofocal material was launched in early 2018 in the US, followed by the SimplifEYE delivery system in late 2020.
