In Hoya’s Life Care segment, sales of eyeglass and contact lens accounted for 10,189 million yen in revenue, a 21.2% increase over year ago. Revenue from sales of intraocular lenses and other medical products totaled 1,628 million yen, up 8.2% from year ago. The eyeglass business led the growth in Life Care segment gaining market share overseas, Mr Hiroshi Suzuki, chief executive officer of Hoya, said. We will further promote the business by enhancing resources and products. I am confident that the quality of our eyeglass lens is highly competitive. Hoya said revenues from eyeglass lenses also grew due to the inclusion of sales by Seiko eyewear as a consolidated subsidiary.For the nine months ended 31 Decber, Hoya’s revenues rose 16.1% to 362,520 million yen and profit before tax was up 41.7% year on year to 92,940 million yen. Profit for the term was up 57.1% to 74,427 million yen.Revenue from eyeglass lenses and contact lenses totaled 167,095 yen for the nine-month period, up 19.3% from year ago. Revenue from intraocular lenses and other medical products amounted to 58,501 million yen, up 14.3% from year ago.
