The launch of a set of 10 guiding principles to support a code of conduct for all Vision Eye Institute (VEI) staff has stood out as a highlight at the organisation’s Annual Leadership Conference in Melbourne.
Called ‘The Vision Way’, it is described as the link that supports VEI staff to deliver the same level of service regardless of location.
A permanent fixture on the Vision Eye Institute calendar, the organisation said the Annual Leadership Conference allows the executive leadership team, practice managers, directors of nursing, clinical relationships managers and other senior managers to come together in a national forum.
CEO Mr James Thiedeman says the conference is a popular event, providing the senior VEI team a valuable opportunity to connect with peers over two days.
“As anyone in healthcare knows, it’s easy to be all-consumed with the day-to-day. Scheduling time for a circuit break like this is just as important and it ensures we are all focussed on pursuing our vision of transforming lives,” Thiedeman said.
“Developing leaders within Vision Eye Institute is something we take seriously. We have great people in our organisation, and we take the time to set them up for success.”
He said a lot of thinking and planning goes into the workshops and masterclasses for the conference.
“It’s equal parts upskilling, refreshing knowledge and social connection – we learn and problem solve with our peers and walk away with new skills and ideas. Everyone leaves with a renewed sense of excitement about what they can bring back to their local teams.”
VEI’s national people and culture manager Ms Jacinta Goldsack said a particular highlight of this year’s conference was the launch of ‘The Vision Way’.
“Being a national organisation with hundreds of employees across 32 sites, The Vision Way is the link that allows us to deliver the same, high-quality service no matter where you are,” Goldsack said.
“The Vision Way comprises a set of 10 guiding principles to support our code of conduct and acts as a benchmark for the expected behaviours of all Vision Eye Institute staff. It’s an invaluable asset for our employees and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.”
