EssilorLuxottica has opened a new state-of-the-art fulfilment centre in Sydney that can handle tens of thousands of shipments per month to service the company’s own retail network and wholesale customers.

The 4600 sqm facility, which began operating earlier in 2024, is described as a “powerhouse in our logistics network across Australia and New Zealand” located strategically at Kemps Creek.

“This cutting-edge facility is a testament to our unwavering commitment to efficiency and service excellence,” the company said.

“Our new game-changer hub ensures seamless distribution services and comprehensive coverage for our diverse product categories, including lenses and sunglass frames, contact lenses, store fixtures, instruments, and aftersales.”

The site employs 50 people and can process tens of thousands of orders a month. Image: EssilorLuxottica.

For the first time, EssilorLuxottica has consolidated all of its brands and entities under one roof, including product and optical services. This is designed to drive efficiencies and allow shared staff to work across multiple areas.

The hub will service key brands such as Ray-Ban, OPSM, Sunglass Hut, OptiMed, and Clearly, enhancing operational efficiency not only for products but also for diagnostic and therapeutic instruments.

“By localising the handling of goods, we improve automation and speed, enabling better service for our customers across e-comm, retail and wholesale,” EssilorLuxottica said.

“This hub positions us to improve speed to customer and retail stores, especially with the upcoming Badgerys Creek airport development in the area.”

Approximately 50 staff are located onsite consisting of logistics, technicians and aftersales.

Furthermore, EssilorLuxottica has constructed the hub, which took a year to build, to be eco-friendly.

This includes energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems, solar panels to reduce carbon footprint and rainwater harvesting systems.
