The second day of the ODMA2015 exhibition falls on 4 July; Independence Day in the US. As such, ODMA2015 has declared 4 July to be Independents Day, inviting visitors to celebrate their own independence. The idea of Independents Day came about quite by accident when we noticed that the middle day of ODMA2015 was the 4th of July, said Finola Carey, ODMA CEO. It got us thinking that 317 million Americans can’t be wrong to celebrate independence on that date so the idea was then planted for ODMA2015. Independents Day at ODMA2015 will have a ‘Superbowl’ atmosphere from start to finish with a jazz band welcoming visitors, giant hotdogs, popcorn and candy floss. In addition to the Independents Day celebration, at 4pm there is a speed dating session. Yes, speed dating. But before you start thinking romance and walks along the beach, it’s actually designed for independent practitioners seeking a business or succession partner. In what is slated to be a fun but serious finish to the day, practitioners seeking to exit the industry can commence the search for their perfect match to partner with or to take over their practice.Lubricated with drinks and snacks, young optometrists or dispensers seeking to join an established practice or senior practitioners looking for an exit plan, will be guided by experts on the important questions to ask.Spaces are limited with participants needing to register at www.odma-2015.com.au.And if the lure of giant hotdogs, candy floss and speed dating isn’t enough to get you over the line, now is an opportune time to revisit some of top reasons to attend ODMA2015.1.
