Inaugural Focus Conference held in Melbourne; 28.5 CPD points

Focus Conference was conceived to provide cost-effective CPD and allow busy optometrists a way to achieve all their direct contact points in one day, reducing the time away from their practices or families. We are very pleased with the turnout. A number of registrants have travelled from country Victoria and interstate to attend the conference , optometrist and Focus Conference organiser, Ms Carolyn Terry, told Insight. It is the first time we have run the event and with such a busy CPD calendar we didn’t know how many people would find the event useful. We wanted to have local speakers presenting locally-relevant content. The program was designed with a heavy phasis on the diagnosis and managent of eye disease. Faculty included, Drs Justin Friebel, Lyndell Lim, Tu Tran, Jacqueline Beltz, Dermot Cassidy, Jonathan Ruddle, Jonathon Yeoh, Rick Wolfe and Ed Roufail. We were very fortunate to have assbled such a knowledgeable and experienced range of speakers ready to share their expertise with attendees. I think all attendees would have taken a lot of knowledge away with th ready to apply to their own practice of optometry .Attendees could receive a total of 28.5 CPD points for their attendance. All CPD points were approved as ‘therapeutic’ so those with endorsents achieved all their required ‘therapeutic’ CPD points for the year.
