Ms Cassie Gersbach, a founding member of George and Matilda Eyecare (G&M) who has been with the company for six years, has been appointed general manager of partnerships, as its practice network reaches 86 locations.
The G&M network services more than 100 communities across Australia and has recently welcomed practices in Atherton, Northlakes, Grafton and Aspley to its network.
With 11 years’ experience in the optometry and eyewear sector, including in operations, sales, human resources, and now partnerships, Gersbach said she is well placed to share her experiences and open the door for more independents to connect and explore G&M as their next move.
“I do believe we have suitable solutions that can benefit practice owners both personally and professionally in a meaningful way. G&M have ambition to grow and offer more to the independent market,” she said.
“Due to our proven success, we are well placed to grow our community by offering many competitive models that suit potential partners, including succession planning, assisting with transition through expert support, and ideally setting up and paying respects to their legacy.”
Gersbach also highlights other key benefits for an independent optometrist or partner joining G&M.
“Practices have more support around them and can lean into experts to continue to grow business revenue and improve profitability, and more time to continue to provide excellent clinical care and balance to home life, while we take care of the rest,” she said.
Part of the G&M leadership team since the company’s inception, Gersbach said her interest in start-ups has propelled her forward.
“Start-ups allow you to dare to be bold, dream big and challenge yourself in new ways. It is very rewarding. It requires you to be resilient, disciplined, and organised but at the same time quick on your feet and back yourself every day,” she said.
“I’ve always wanted to be part of a start-up business and G&M, being authentically Australian, was a great start. Developing and creating something new is what excites me. I love G&M’s purpose of uniting independents and enabling optometrists to continue to provide quality eyecare to improve eye health in their communities.”
Gersbach has witnessed a lot of growth and change at G&M throughout the past six years, including navigating COVID.
She said G&M is offering more flexible competitive models than ever before, which are attractive to independents no matter where they are in their career.
“Our experienced and passionate team make the difference as we are personally invested in our partnerships. We offer in-practice support for a best-in-class onboarding transition. We simply take the time to care for our team and patients,” she said.
“More personally, amidst the challenges COVID presented, building and coordinating a new operations team who are aligned, committed, and have a high level of trust to deliver our best results yet, has been very rewarding. I care about my team a lot.”
As she transitions into her new role, Gersbach said she is looking forward to the opportunity to grow and learn both personally and professionally.
