French brand FACE à FACE, supplied in Australia by Eyes Right Optical, has been nominated for a SILMO d’Or award for its limited-edition sunglasses, AALTO.
The nomination in the sunglasses optical frame (eyewear designer) category was announced at SILMO Paris.
According to Eyes Right Optical, AALTO is a masterpiece of FACE à FACE craftsmanship.
“This design is a treasure trove of creativity and precision – the perfect balance between rich craftsmanship and technology condensed into minimalist aesthetics. An ultra-premium limited-edition designed to be worn as a work of art,” the company said.
The SILMO d’Or nomination noted: “With the fullness of its oversized branches sculpted like a tuning fork, the AALTO project offers a surprise, a counterpoint. The sides are no more than an outline, in which is inserted a sunglass lens.
“The precise alignment of the two axes of rotation in space represents an unprecedented technical achievement. The riveted hinges are extended by the gold frame that is encased in crystal acetate to form a shape that is both structural and graphic.”
