EssilorLuxottica has partnered with Optical Dispensers Australia (ODA) to host a workshop on frame fittings.
“EssilorLuxottica is committed to providing ongoing support for the professional development of optical dispensers,” it said.
The interactive and informative workshop in North Sydney last month offered ODA members valuable insights into professional frame styling.
The evening started with a presentation by ODA advisory board secretary Mr Chedy Kalach.
He shared insights on selecting and adjusting frames to complement diverse facial features.
Emphasising individuality, he reminded attendees that “every face is unique, and frame fitting should be too”.
“The session empowers dispensers to confidently meet the needs of a diverse patient base — equipping them to identify and address specific fitting challenges across various facial features, adapt beyond standard fitting protocols when needed, and apply techniques that ensure optimal comfort, fit, and style for every individual — because there’s a right frame for everyone.”
He was followed by Mr Cameron Bourke, trainer and facilitator for EssilorLuxottica, who guided participants through three key focus areas:
- Frame styling and eyewear trends
- Practical styling tips: Bourke shared that “consumers have told us that among the top fashion items — clothing, shoes, watches, jewellery, and hats — eyewear is what most reflects their personal style.”
He emphasised the important role dispensers play in helping customers find frames that not only express their individuality but also provide the right fit and function.
“Frame stylists should understand which shapes complement different face types, which colours enhance various skin tones, and ensure each frame fits comfortably and securely,” he explained. - Eyewear trends for 2025
- Alien eyes:Oversized butterfly, extreme wraparound, and shield-style frames.
- Barely there:A resurgence of Y2K-inspired rimless designs across both optical and sunwear.
- Chrome effects:High-gloss metallic finishes in both frame materials and lens treatments — think glossy silver frames and full silver mirror lenses.
- Colours: Botanical greens and milky neutrals dominate the upcoming palette.
The session ended with a key message: dispensing eyewear goes beyond vision correction — it’s also about creating a personalised style experience. From choosing lenses that meet visual needs to selecting frames that enhance face shape and colour tone, every choice helps express the customer’s unique style.
