Mr Elton John has reported that he is “still standing” despite battling a serious eye infection that has left him with “limited vision”.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” the singer, 77, shared in a statement on Instagram.
“I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”
The singer/song writer went on to offer thanks to his team of doctors and nurses.
He also expressed gratitude for his family – husband David Furnish and their sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11 – who have “taken such good care of me over the last several weeks”.
John has spent the past few months recovering at home and is feeling positive about the progress.
After John shared his message, fans – and some celebrities – flooded the comments section with positive messages.
John has a strong connection to the Australian eyewear industry. In July 2024, Insight profiled South Australian eyewear designer Mr Peter Coombs who has crafted 26 pieces for John over the years.
