Non-profit organisation Eyes for Life Canberra (EFLC) is hosting a hybrid professional development event for optometrists on 11 April, featuring A/Prof Michele Madigan from UNSW.
In the seminar titled “Emerging from the Darkness: Update on Pigmented Lesions in the Eye,” Madigan will shed light on the study of pigmented lesions in the eye, often indicative of underlying conditions requiring early detection and intervention, and recent advancements in this research area.
Madigan’s research at UNSW aims to explore and understand the pathogenesis of human eye diseases within the context of normal human development and ageing.
The seminar – to be held in Canberra and online – will include a brief refresher on human eye anatomy, normal pigmented eye cells and why the study of these are important.
Subsequently, the seminar will focus on pigmented lesions in primary eyecare including their prevalence, whereabouts, clinical imaging, and updates on approaches for choroidal naevus versus primary choroidal melanoma.
“Learn about new treatments, diagnostic tools, and research findings in a casual and interactive setting,” the organisation said.
“Join us in Canberra or online to expand your knowledge and skills in primary eyecare at this interactive seminar.”
