A Dry Eye Symposium, Rising Star Frame Competition, and a Design and Fitout Centre have already been identified as key planks of next year’s show, which Expertise Events’ general manager Mr Gary Fitz-Roy said was in keeping with SILMO Sydney’s strategic direction and focus.“At SILMO Sydney this year we delivered a show that focused not only on fashion and frames, but also ensured there was relevant and timely content important to the ongoing development of the optometry industry in Australia,” Fitz-Roy said.“The alignment with Optometry Australia and the Practice of the Future feature were just two examples of how SILMO Sydney continues to lead the way for optometric fairs in Australia.”Expertise has identified dry eye as a growing issue that requires a focus on diagnosis and treatment, while the fitout centre is set to build on the “huge” interest in shopfitting and display options noted at this year’s SILMO. The frame competition, open to students from the Enmore Design School, will be judged on shape, materials and practicality.Competition entries will be displayed at SILMO Sydney, with the winning frames also featured at SILMO Paris in Septber 2019.SILMO Sydney 2019 is scheduled for July 5–7, at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour.
