The Dry Eye Society will host an exclusive members-only professional education event, Immunology, IPL and Insane Grand Rounds, on Tuesday 24 February at Brisbane’s Victoria Park Golf Course.
Designed for clinicians with a shared interest in dry eye disease and ocular surface management, the CPD evening will bring together practitioners for an interactive and collegial program focused on immunology, intense pulsed light (IPL) and advanced clinical case discussions.
Guests are invited to arrive from 6.00pm, with the formal program commencing at 6.30pm. The evening will provide three hours of CPD, including two hours of therapeutic and interactive content, supporting ongoing professional development in dry eye and ocular surface disease.
The event will feature presentations and panel discussion led by optometrists Adam Barron and Lyndon Ferguson, both recognised for their clinical expertise in dry eye care.
Barron graduated from the QUT School of Optometry in 2005 and is passionate about delivering high-quality eyecare to regional communities. His clinical interests include orthokeratology and myopia control, freeform scleral lens fitting, dry eye disease and ocular pathology. He completed the International Academy Certification in Myopia Management in 2025 and has been an active member of the Dry Eye Society since its establishment.
Barron is also a member of the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania, the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia and the QCH Paediatric Optometry Alignment Program, and serves as an Aviation Eye Examiner.
Ferguson currently practises full-scope optometry on the Gold Coast, with a strong clinical focus on dry eye and ocular surface disease. He has experience across private practice and hospital eye casualty settings in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Ferguson completed his undergraduate optometry studies at QUT in Brisbane and holds a Master of Science (Clinical Optometry) from City University, London, where his research focused on the management of dry eye and ocular surface disease. He has completed a Diploma of Therapeutics (IP) and holds postgraduate qualifications in specialty contact lenses, dry eye disease, glaucoma and medical retina.
Attendance at the CPD evening is exclusively available to Dry Eye Society members. Practitioners who are not yet members may join the society on the evening to gain access to the event, subject to availability.
Places are limited and registration is essential.
