RANZCO’s 54th Congress, taking place at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) from 20-23 October, will feature a host of social events in addition to early morning wellness activities.
The evening of Friday 20 October will kickstart the Congress with a Welcome Reception for delegates at the Island Brew House in Elizabeth Quay.
“What better way to welcome you all to Perth, than enjoying canapes, cocktails and drinks at Elizabeth Quay, with the best views of the city,” the college said.
This is followed by a Graduation Awards Ceremony followed by the President’s Reception on the evening of Saturday 21 October. Here, new fellows will be welcomed, alongside recognition of the college award recipients, trainers of excellence and examination medallists.
Younger fellows are also invited to The Reveley in Elizabeth Quay later in the evening on Saturday 21 October.
“Showcasing Perth city views, the evening will consist of a delectable three-course dinner and drinks located on the second floor,” the college said.
On the evening of Sunday 22 October, senior fellows are invited to a three-course dinner and drinks with a presentation from Dr David Kaufman on “Tales from the morgue” at The Adnate, Hyde Perth Kitchen.
Social events will also extend beyond the Congress, with RANZCO’s Foundation ANZEF inviting delegates to explore the Cape to Cape Track in the Margaret River Region from 24-27 October. The trek will raise funds for ANZEF to advance eye health equity for Australian, New Zealand and Asia-Pacific communities.
“If you enjoy the outdoors, a unique opportunity awaits to stretch your legs and unwind after Congress on one of WA’s most spectacular hiking trails,” RANZCO said.
“Every step you take will raise awareness and funds for those facing barriers to ophthalmic care.”
