In 1992, he founded OCS, commenced operations with eight drivers and just a handful of retailer and wholesaler customers.
After only six months in operation, the company expanded its interstate operations to include over 100 companies having freight delivered to and from most major capital cities in Australia.
He was at the helm of OCS throughout those attpted takeovers of the optical-courier industry. With his tenacity and a great team behind him, OCS managed to retain most of its faithful customers, with others to return later when they realised the great prices couldn’t last forever. ;
Due to the expanding national success of OCS, it soon became apparent that an interstate partner was needed and in April 2002, ten years since the launch of OCS, National Optical Distribution (NOD) was born. ;
NOD was the brainchild of Mike Materazzo of OCS in Melbourne, and Alex Muller of Harts Couriers in Sydney.;
OCS interacts with over 100 wholesalers nationally and over 700 retail outlets across Greater Melbourne, and moves over 3000 packages through its depot daily.
