The third floor is actually divided into two sides – one for faculty and the other for students. The faculty office area is spacious and open-plan – with plenty of private meeting areas, and a small boardroom. Each mber of the staff sits in the open plan, including foundation director, Professor Harrison Weisinger. “The open plan office is superb for sharing ideas, impromptu conferencing and making decisions quickly, without the frustration of having ails traverse the web all the way to the office next door. The team adapted to the new environment really quickly which is a great credit to th, having come from more traditional offices. However, the benefits are already apparent – what is lost in ‘personal space’ is more than made up for in collegiality”, Professor Weisinger said. The REACH building was designed by Melbourne architects, DesignInc, who worked to accommodate the range of ‘special requests’ put forward by Deakin acadics.
