Ophthalmologists are among a group of surgeons expected to benefit from Cura Day Hospitals Group’s acquisition of PresMed Holdings.
Cura has signed a binding offer to acquire PresMed and its seven day hospitals – five in New South Wales and one each in the Australian Capital Territory and Tasmania. It also features one consulting practice located in New South Wales.
The acquisition will create a combined network of 36 facilities across Australia, and ensure resilience in an increasingly competitive industry.
Ophthalmologist rank among the biggest users of Cura’s facilities and stand to benefit from the expansion of the company.
Dr Keith Zabell, a Toowoomba-based ophthalmologist and chairperson of the Cura group, said medical professionals would benefit from a more extensive hospital group.
“Our doctors will now have greater opportunities to collaborate with Cura, as well as access to a wider choice of facilities and technologically advanced equipment,” he said.
“We extend a very warm welcome to all the PresMed doctors and staff who will be joining our group,” he said.
Cura CEO Mr Peter Freeleagus said that patients would benefit from improved care options and a wider range of facilities.
“Our patients remain our top priority, and this acquisition allows us to better serve them with expanded offerings while maintaining our high standards of care and service,” he said.
For employees, the larger, more diverse network will present enhanced career development opportunities, including leadership roles and professional growth pathways, the company said.
“This positions Cura as an attractive employer for top talent, with a broader national presence and increased market leadership,” Freeleagus added.
