O=MEGA PREVIEW: Capricornia Contact Lens will present mark’ennovy’s latest advance in contact lens design to treat two burgeoning patient groups.
In partnership with the Brien Holden Vision Institute, mark’ennovy this year launched its Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) and MYLO contact lenses to global markets.
The products harness the same technology to treat both myopia and presbyopia. Capricornia, a Brisbane-based contact lens manufacturer and distributor, became mark’ennovy’s Australian distributor after signing an agreement with the Spanish company in January. For presbyopes, EDOF multifocal contact lenses have been designed to deliberately manipulate higher order aberrations to provide good vision at all viewing distances, minimising visual compromises such as ghosting and haloes.
Adopting the same principles, MYLO has been shown to slow myopia progression by 32% in children after two years. The product secured European regulatory approval with a myopia control indication in March, and obtained Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration clearance last month.
