Organisers of the third Asia-Pacific Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Society (APSPOS) Congress, taking place in Brisbane in mid-2025, have unveiled the theme for the event that will drive home the importance of collaborative care in the field.
The meeting – being held 29 June to 1 July – will run conjunction with the Australian and New Zealand Strabismus Society (ANZSS), and the Australian and New Zealand Paediatric Ophthalmology Society (ANZPOS) annual meeting.
The event will bring together leading ophthalmologists, researchers, and healthcare professionals from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond to “advance knowledge and foster innovation in the field of strabismus and paediatric ophthalmology”, organisers said.
Under the theme ‘Inspiring Collaboration’, the congress will highlight the importance of multidisciplinary approaches when delivering world-class care for children and adults with visual impairments. Through thought-provoking presentations, interactive workshops, and engaging panel discussions, delegates will explore the latest clinical and research advancements in the field.
Some key highlights include a focus on collaborative care, myopia prevention and amblyopia management. The congress will also highlight the importance of strengthening partnerships between ophthalmologists, orthoptists, optometrists, and other allied health professionals to improve patient outcomes.
Sessions will cover topics such as team-based care models, integrated patient pathways, and collaborative strategies for tackling complex cases and new approaches to amblyopia treatment.
Organisers said the congress would also provide a platform for networking, allowing attendees to build connections with peers and industry leaders. With Brisbane’s reputation as a vibrant and welcoming city, delegates can also look forward to an enriching and memorable experience both inside and outside the conference venue.
“We’ve put together an exciting and diverse scientific program for everyone passionate about eyecare,” Professor Shuan Dai, congress convenor, said.
“Whether you’re an ophthalmologist, orthoptist, optometrist, or a visual sciences academic, there’s something here just for you.
“This is more than just a conference – it’s a chance to connect with colleagues, share ideas, and dive into the latest innovations in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. Let’s learn, grow, and shape the future of our field together. We can’t wait to see you in Brisbane, Australia.”
Registration is now open, with further details about the program, speakers, and social events to be announced soon.
