Commencing in July, the Certificate in Advanced Contact Lenses has been developed to meet the need of optometrists and enable graduates to increase their competency through theory and the development of appropriate skills.According to the ACO, an expert team of presenters from Australia and the UK will deliver a range of topics including current information on soft and hard lenses, lens fitting and special lenses. The rote learning course offers 48 CPD points, including eight therapeutic, and costs $1,950 for mbers and $2,496 for non-mbers.The self-paced independent learning course will take approximately six months to complete and comprises of e-learning materials, online assessments, 16 hours of local clinical experience, completion of a clinical logbook, online forums and networking opportunities.To enter the course, candidates must be a graduate of optometry and registered in Australia or New Zealand. It is also recommended that optometrists have a minimum of six months’ general practice experience prior to commencing the course.Interested applicants can visit the ACO website for more details.
