Essilor appoints Australia’s first chief operating officer

02/08/2017By Matthew Woodley
Essilor Australia and New Zealand will for the first time have a chief operating officer (COO), following the appointment of Mr Pierre Longerna in the newly created role.

Longerna first joined Essilor in 2005, where he held multiple strategic roles before departing to take up a position overseeing Nikon Lenses in Europe as general manager of Novisia. He then relocated to Canada to become president of Nikon Optical North America, a role he held up until accepting the COO position at Essilor ANZ.

The role will entail managing Essilor’s commercial and operational teams in Australian and New Zealand, during what Longerna described as a great time for the company.

“We are accelerating the release of new products, innovations and services, all

designed to help Aussie and Kiwi consumers experience better vision”, he said.

“Our industry is still developing and significant opportunities remain untapped, I am looking forward to working with our customers and partners to help them maximise their growth. I’m also very excited about this opportunity to work with the Essilor ANZ teams.”
