Maui Jim has released a new sunglass lens made of material that combines optics nearly as clear as glass with just one-third of the weight.

Available in both plano and prescription forms, MauiBrilliant possesses an Abbe value of 56, making it the lightest, high-clarity prescription-ready lens on the market. The new lenses also feature the company’s PolarisedPlus2 technology, which boosts colours and eliminates glare, while simultaneously managing 95% of HEV light and blocking 100% of harmful UV.

We are very excited to see this technology launched to the market across our entire network of authorised retailers.
Mr Nathan Fisher, director of marketing for Maui Jim

According to Maui Jim’s director of marketing for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, Mr Nathan Fisher, the new lens material has been in development for a number of years.

“We are very excited to see this technology launched to the market across our entire network of authorised retailers,” he said.

The new lenses – available in either single vision or progressive prescriptions – utilise the business’ MauiPassport prescription development process, which results in edge-to-edge clarity and therefore the widest possible field of view. They also have the broadest availability of any Maui Jim prescription lens, with an RX total power parameters range of +3.00 to -6.50.

The MauiBrilliant range is available with lightweight and durable grilamid or titanium frames, hypoallergenic rubber nose pads and temple tips, plus all four of Maui Jim’s lens colours, which are specially designed for performance in different light conditions.
