O=MEGA PREVIEW: Heidelberg Engineering will feature two products at O=MEGA that will showcase its latest designs in ocular imaging and visualisation equipment.

The company will exhibit Anterion, a multimodal imaging platform optimised for the anterior segment. The technology combines corneal topography and tomography, anterior segment metrics, axial length measurement, and intraocular lens calculation into a single, upgradeable device.

Using high-resolution SS-OCT images, Anterion is said to offer several benefits in the primary care setting, including assessment of the anterior segment, chamber angle analysis and keratoconus investigation. It also allows eyecare professionals to make better-informed decisions about contact lens fitting.

Its four-in-one modular design is also suitable for optometrists to conduct pre-operative assessment for cataract, refractive and glaucoma surgeries.

Heidelberg Engineering will also unveil the Spectralis High Magnification Module (HMM), which is a lens attachment for the company's Spectralis device, a multimodal imaging platform optomised for the posterior segment.

Granted European regulatory approval in January, HMM provides significantly more microstructural detail of the ocular fundus than is possible with a standard Spectralis lens.

The company believes detail seen in HMM images may provide novel insights into the pathogenesis and progression of retinal diseases, adding further possibilities to refine surgical and treatment regimens. The module is also applicable to patients with cataracts due to the minimised effects of light scatter.
